One of the challenges for executive coaches is getting to the true cause of a problem or challenge the client faces; coaches need to be prepared to “dive deep, quickly” rather than the address the symptoms. Learning to ask powerful questions and creating space for the client to reflect is important. Knowing when to hone in and dive deeper or back off and allow silence to work its magic, is an art learned through time and experience. “Toggling” back and forth, while balancing insight with action, leads to better client outcomes.
ICF Gulf Coast member Craig Juengling, PCC will facilitate discussion among participants to drive home these key concepts.
1.5 ICF Core Competency CCEUs have been approved for this Special Interest Group event.
Learning Objectives:
1) Listening for the real problem of the client and asking questions to promote deeper discussions
2) How to create space for reflection
3) Understanding how to “hone in” and “back out” – toggling
4) Connecting behavior and choices to a deeper meaning and purpose.
